Shaving with a safety razor requires a little practice but rest assured with the R89 it won't take long. FYI, the skin does need a little time to grow accustomed to the shave. Getting started will be easier if you follow these steps:
Wet your beard area, preferably with warm water, and lather it thoroughly with our Shaving oil and for more sensitive skin types add an additional layer of shaving cream. Be aware the longer you lather the beard, the more easily and gently the hairs can be cut. Make sure that the shaving head and handle are firmly attached to each other but only to the point that it can be unscrewed without too much effort.
This makes sure that the blade rests at the correct angle. Now begin with the shave. Hold the safety razor at a 30° angle to the skin. Don't worry about this too much you will feel the right angle as you continue to shave. Start with the cheeks applying gentle pressure. Always shave in the direction of the beard growth (with the grain). When shaving your neck, stretch the skin tight with your free hand. Do not be discouraged by small cuts or grazes this is normal. Once you have familiarised yourself with the razor, they won't happen that often.
